Atticus a well known lawyer in the little town of Maycomb in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. He comes up against a tough, rock solid case including an African American man and a young woman who grew up in poverty. Atticus has trust in the power in using the three models of rhetoric. Ethos,Pathos and Logos to prove to the jury that his client is innocent and can walk out of court that day a free man. (Lee).
In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Atticus Finch uses the three artistic proofs to persuade the jury of Tom Robinson’s innocence. The way Atticus uses the ethical, logical and emotional influences shows his standards, morals, character, and attitude towards racism. Atticus stepped up to represent Tom in court even though he knew he would most likely fail. Atticus knew he would most likely fail because Tom was black and back then any black person that was taken to court was automatically guilty. Atticus also tried to persuade the jury that it was their duty to grant Tom Robinson his innocence because he did not rape Mayella.
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view ... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." (Elibrary database). Even though through most of the story Atticus’s beliefs about the case are not backed by anyone, he still holds strong in what he believes in and in that steadfast way. Atticus comes out a more respected man for proving to everyone that you do not know a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes.
At the end of all three of these characters’ trails and tribulations, Atticus Finch and Thomas more, the characters whom followed moral principles and made their choices based on what is right, are the ones who are satisfied with themselves. Even though Atticus lost the trail and Thomas lost his life, they are happy and they know that they have done all they can to help other people and still abide to their own conscience. Alex, on the other hand, wants to change at the end of the novella. He isn’t happy with the way his life is, and he wants to make his life better for himself and also for the people around him. He is on the verge of adapting a moral lifestyle.
If Atticus is successful in Tom's case it could boost his own reputation. It could show that Atticus can convince the jury successfully and efficiently in a case, and would result in more people wanting Attticus as their own lawyer. If Atticus takes up Tom's case it would make him well-known. It would show that Atticus is not afraid of anything that a case could bring, and is willing to do everything he can to help his client. By taking Tom’s case it would also show to others that he is a good lawyer and he is willing to help his client as much as he can.

Most people try to have good morals, adults trying to raise kids are a perfect example. That's exactly what Atticus is doing in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. There are many instances where Atticus is showing extraordinary morals for himself and his family. Some would be dealing with hate the right way, another would be representing a black man in a time where segregation is very alive, lastly is making sure his family is religious. Its very clear that all of these traits/morlas are extremely important to Atticus. The first one to talk about is how Atticus deals with all the hate.
