To Kill a Mockingbird is a very well known novel, and is an honorable classic. However, average people don’t know the truth about Atticus Finch and Maycomb. The entire city is a government conspiracy and is monitored by Atticus and his sister, Aunt Alexandra. From a genocidal Atticus to Maycomb being an experiment, the dark secrets of Maycomb are soon to be revealed.

Atticus Finch is a suspicious character indeed. He suppresses emotions, allows his children to call him by his name, is antiracist, and is seen as a man of wax to the community. However, Atticus isn’t who he seems, as a perfect man isn’t possible. Atticus is actually a robot built by NASA that was stolen by Nathan Radley. What exactly was the government’s involvement in the story? Well, the answer isn’t set in stone, as the outside world is hidden very well from the citizens, as mentioned by Jem, “ ‘It’s like bein a caterpillar in a cocoon, that’s what it is,’ he said. ‘Like somethin’ asleep wrapped up in a warm place. I always thought Maycomb folks were the best folks in the world, least that’s what they seemed like’” (L 215). However, by looking at outliers such as Atticus, an explanation starts to build up. While comforting Scout about her friend Walter, Jem makes an incredibly important discovery. The people of Maycomb are split into four ‘folk’ categories, the ‘ordinary kind’, the ‘Cunninghams’, the ‘Ewells’, and the Negroes. When combined with the Atticus conspiracy, it all fits together. The government is testing how the four types would react to one another if somebody like Atticus Finch came along, and tried to bring change, and trying to bring acceptance to African Americans. But why would the government go to such extremes? Is the government testing to apply their discoveries to their own lives? What would they be protecting? Well, the whole book is spreading the message of something being innocent, something only makes peaceful music … a mockingbird.
