Every story has the one character who may stand out from the group and act slightly different from the rest. They may have some peculiar thoughts, but by the end, they play an important role in developing the plot of the story. In Summerland, by Michael Chabon, the author created Thor Wignutt, the unusual character of the story. At the beginning of the novel, Thor and Ethan Feld and Jennifer T. Rideout aren’t the best of friends. Ethan and Jennifer T. know how intelligent Thor is, and they need him in order to continue to travel between the worlds.
Osh, a character from Beyond the Bright Sea by Lauren Wolk, would be the best partner on a deserted island because he is a strong caregiver, quick thinking, and resourceful. Osh has proved to be a strong caregiver, which makes him a worthy partner to be stranded on an island with. At this point in the story, Osh is talking to Crow about the challenges of raising her. He didn’t want Crow to be taken away from him so he would go above and beyond to keep her protected and content.
The summer before Cadence had hit her head on a rock in the ocean while swimming. She doesn’t recall what had happened that night, so she keeps on asking but, no one will ever tell her. She starts out this summer as usual just everyone is nervous around her and don’t know what to say. Cadence starts to have fun again like she had used to, so she is now adjusting back to how things used to be.

I feel connected to Margot, the protagonist in the story "All Summer in a Day", because we both feel isolated from our classmates because of our origins, showing where you come from can affect how people view you. For example, as the other children in the class room edges away from her, Bradbury explains that "She had only come here five years ago from Earth” (2). Margot was born on a whole different planet than the other kids, showing how her origins are different than those of her peers. David Mamet wrote the ludicrous play “November.” The majority of the play was nothing more than comical happenings with some serious issues hidden in the depth of its pages.
