Fences is a play that I enjoyed, written by August Wilson, that shows allegory, symbolism, and metaphorical scenes. These literary devices are valuable in describing what baseball is to Troy. It is set within the 1950s. This play has acquired its name from the fence that Troy, who is the main character, is building for Rose, his wife when the play starts while talking with Bono his friend. Fences uses three literary devices improve the play symbolism, allegory, and metaphor. Displays a strong representation of what each thing signifies.
