Caesar Augustus: Caesar Augustus, or earlier known as Octavian, was a military commander who later became the emperor of the Roman Empire. His reign lasted from 27 B.C.E. to 14 C.E. His title, Caesar Augustus, implied that he was a ruler with godlike qualities. This marked the end of republics in Rome and the rise of the empire. Augustus was a humble ruler, and seeked to preserve republic values, by refraining from calling himself an emperor, or king. His rule began the Pax Romana, or the era of great peace in the Roman Empire.

Augustus was Rome’s first emperor. Augustus was born in Velletri as Gauis Octavius Thurnius. Augustus’s father was a senator and governor in the Roman Republic, and his mother was Atia, Julius Caesar niece, who was in fact very religious. At the ripe age of 19, Caesar took him under his wing so in case he passed away suddenly he would have an heir to take over and Caesar wanted it to be Augustus. When Augustus was 32, he became Rome’s first emperor and in return, he promised to restore peace and security in the Roman Empire.

Julius Caesar was born in Rome in the 13 July 100 B.C. Julius advanced within the Roman political system. In 61-60 B.C. he became a governor of the Roman Colony of Spain. In 60 B.C. Caesar made a covenant with Pompey and Crassus, who helped him, get elected consol for 59 B.C. He made 2 expeditions to Britain, in 55 B.C. and 54 B.C. Caesar returned to Italy omitting the authority of the senate and famously crossing the Rubicon River without demobilizing his army. Pompey fled to Egypt after ensuing Caesar defeated republican forces.
Augustus Octavian Augustus Octavian was the emperor that transformed Rome. With the powers of his influence, Augustus managed to hold ultimate control of every aspect of Rome. Augustus came into a bare and dry Republic, but through his influence, he left a clothed and a prosperous Empire. Augustus rise to power was influenced by his relationship with Julius Caesar; he was Caesar’s grand-nephew, and Caesar treated him like his own son (Richardson, 2012, p. 7).
The future ruler Augustus was naturally introduced to an equestrian family as Gaius Octavius at Rome on 23 September 63 BC. His dad, Gaius Octavius, was the first in the family to wind up plainly a representative, yet kicked the bucket when Octavian was just four. It was his mom who had the more recognized association. She was the girl of Julia, sister to Julius Caesar.
Emperors were rulers of many empires and those who ruled had different ideas of how to rule people. The ones chosen to rule was said to be Gods will and people who opposed this idea were killed. Emperors were fear but also love around the world, one of those emperors was Marcus Aurelius born in a wealthy family he was chosen by Emperor Hadrian to be his successor. Marcus Aurelius was the most power and respected roman emperor of all time. Marcus Aurelius was born on April 26th and he was dedicated to study philosophy, Latin and Greek and at the age of 19, he grown an interest in politics becoming consul of the Roman senate as year past, he became more knowledgeable and his duties as a leader grown.
Fortunately for Octavian (as he was known at the time), relativity fortunately anyway, in Caesar’s will, he had adopted him as his son and made him his heir which helped kick-start his rise to power. Although he never claimed the title of an emperor, he was in fact the first emperor of Rome. The process taken by Gaius Octavius to become Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus and the sequence of events that led to Octavian eliminating his potential threats to his succession was a significant historical figures. Event that was taken by Gaius Octavianus in order for his succession of becoming Augustus was through Eliminating political parties through war and through proscription, Avenging Caesars death(second triumvirate vs Cassius and Brutus) and the battle of Actium in which will be furtherly discussed.
After going through the histories of Julius Caesar, Caesar Augustus, the Medici’s, Pazzi’s and the Doge, Supreme Council, I learned that the leadership that existed in the ancient days was based on who owned the cities. It is clear how Julius Caesar was elected and later on became successful and wealthy in politics as well as in military within the Republic. Caesar Augustus was another leader who was chosen by the people and gained supremacy in Rome. Monarchy leadership was practiced in states like Rome. Political, economic, and social statuses of the leaders were the main determinants for the cities’ conditions.
Augustus Caesar established the Roman Empire in 31 B.C.E. after inheriting the throne from his great-uncle, Julius Caesar. At the time of his rising to power Rome was in shambles due to multiple civil wars. In order to bring unification back to Rome, “Augustus allied with Marc Antony to reunify Rome by killing off most of its enemies in two of the bloodiest battles in the history of the Roman Empire” (Blackwell). Through many hard fought and costly battles Augustus never gave up however, and pushed his forces to keep on fighting.

Julius Caesar was the Dictator of Rome in 42 BC who accomplished many things. Many people believed that he was a hero, but Julius Caesar was a very ambitious dictator and was more of a villain than a hero. Julius Caesar was a villain because he didn’t think first before doing something, he forced the Senate to name him dictator for life and he also was a glory hound and put his needs before the republic.
