Augustus respected religion and each person had their own freedom. It is unreliable and he is under Augustus’s rule and he wouldn’t say anything about bad about his leader or he might get killed.
The Roman Republic was a government ruled by the people in Italy. Magistrates were officials and the most powerful were the consuls. The senate was a group of people who were wealthy and advised the city leaders. The American Democracy is a government with three branches. The executive branch is the presidents branch.
The Roman Republic and American Government, although separated by over 2 millennia, are obviously very similar to each other. With their similarities in foundation and their government might just be an indication that maybe the American government could be based off of the Roman Republic. Leaders in both, Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln have some commonalities. The time separating these two great governments doesn’t change their similarities and differences.
The Roman Republic greatly influence the many forms of government that came after it, its many contributions to government significantly impacted modern day governments of today. Yet to understand it we must first find knowledge to how the Roman Republic came to be. In Ancient Rome, the Romans had their own Roman Republic. The Roman republic reasonably met the common good. The way they did this was that they didn’t fully meet the common good in all areas, but in other areas they did. In public service I would give the Ancient Romans an A. In Roman comedy, like in Greek comedy that came before it, Roman writers enjoyed to poke fun at social norms. Augustus sought to protect the Roman Empire’s longevity and in doing so elevated the power held by the paterfamilias. In a Roman family absolute authority is held by the father or the head of the household. The power of the paterfamilias was unrestricted and enabled him as the head of the house to control every aspect in the lives of his family. The Roman Republic was created in order for the rich men named aristocrats to gain even more power by removing kings from the Roman government. Soon after, the Roman upper class turned politics into a violent competition in their strive for power. Gaius Marius’ creation of “client armies” led soldiers to become more loyal towards their commander than the republic. This resulted in a commander named Lucius Cornelius Sulla overtaking Rome with his client army and establishing himself as a dictator.
