Jackson Cipares Mrs. Barnes English 10 10 March 2023 Auschwitz What is Auschwitz? Auschwitz was a killing center for the jews. They used multiple ways of killing such as shooting, hanging, burning, etc. Life in Auschwitz was extremely rough on the Jews. Some of the Jews that survived at Auschwitz were liberated. Auschwitz was a killing center for the jews or others that the Nazis were against. Called the undesirables. Some punishments and executions they used were shooting, hanging, starvation to death, and the post. The text states, “The victim’s hands were tied behind his back and he was hung from a post so that his feet could not touch the ground. The living conditions were bad. In the beginning of them getting there, they had no beds or furniture they slept on straw. These camps were also extremely packed full of people. The text states, Prisoners slept on straw-stuffed mattresses laid on the floor. (Source 3, History-life in the camp) Liberation after the Nazis fell. Most of the jews who survived got liberated but had nowhere to live. Most died after they marched them though. The text states, “David Dushman was a former Red Army soldier who played a key role in the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.”(source 4 liberation) David Dushman was a man who was liberated and helped others in Auschwitz he helped them by driving a tank into the Auschwitz electric fence. Overall, Auschwitz was a terrible place and will be remembered because of all the innocent lives lost children, women, and men who all died just because of what they believed
