The acceptance of autistic people within our society has always been of great difficulty. Especially in schools, autistic children are not often accepted by other children without disabilities. This paper investigates ways to understand these difficulties and the consequences on the daily life of the child. It also provides suggestions on how to improve the socialization of children within the Autistic Spectrum Disorder. These suggestions can be used to change the way the skills of the child to communicate, but also the way the child communicate with other children. Introduction The Autistic spectrum disorder describes a range of conditions classified as neurodevelopmental disorders in the fifth edition of the American Psychiatric Associations Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V). It comprises Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), and childhood disintegrative disorder. (1) In this paper, we will focus on the ‘Autism ’part of the spectrum. The word Autism refers to a pathological preoccupation with the self and an omission of the outside world (2). Indeed, autistic people have big difficulties to create good and intimate relationships, and they feel uncomfortable when around people. Autistic children generally show deficits in reciprocal social interactions, which signifies that they do not understand the reciprocity in social interactions with others. Usually they are aware of the fact that children are supposed to have friends, and that is the reason why high-functioning children with autism may have friends.
