Introduction The first thing that comes to mind when you think of when you hear AutoZone is not only their great deals and their exceptional programs and services. You are going to see how AutoZone came to be and what keeps this business going and keeps their customers coming back. History AutoZone was founded in 1979 it’s original name was Auto Shack was established by a man named J.R. “Pitt” Hyde III which is the founder and chairmen of this business. Auto shack was a spinoff of his family’s grocery business. On July 4, 1979 is when the Auto shack first opened in Forest City Arkansas.
