Marvel are once again unabashedly bringing geekery to the masses and it's not hard to see why when the Avengers cinematic franchise has amassed Disney a cool £5bn to date. Joss Whedon has done a fantastic job of bringing the original graphic novels to the silver screen for a second time. This time around the rag tag bunch of heroes must take on a new foe, Ultron, who is played by James Spader. He is originally a stoic artificial intelligence who, no thanks to Tony Stark, comes to believe he must destroy humanity in order to save the Earth along with his two sidekicks, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. The film itself sticks to the tried and tested Marvel formula of big action sequences and a heavy focus on CGI which keeps the audience engaged from the outset. At its core, the camaraderie between the characters that makes them so likeable leads to the audience finding out more about Black Widow’s back story and Hawkeye being given more of a prominent role than in the original film. It does however, feel a bit lacking when it comes to originality, almost like it is a rehash of Avengers Assemble with a slightly different set up and different villains. …show more content…

The features available are typical of any Blu-ray with a making of, gag reel and commentary by the director which fans will most certainly appreciate. It also includes three short featurettes. The most interesting of these to Marvel fans is likely to be “Infinite Six” which focuses on the infinity stones that have been captured in each film with two of them still to be found, laying the foundations for the already announced Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and
