The Novel Away by Michael Gow strongly amplifies the sense of uncovering what is hidden to reconsider what is known. Another text that relates to this is the Good Place. Both texts explain what is hidden and what it takes to explore and to think about what needs to be uncover. This makes the characters in the texts find that it is easier to unwind and explore what is hidden to try and discover something new and live a happy and worry free life. They find that they need to release their emotions and tell someone about what is happening in their lives. In Away Tom has cancer and no one knows about this, so he thinks. The author indicates earlier in the Play that Tom's parents know about the cancer but are hiding it from him trying to help him but they are really preventing him from moving on as he has discovered that he has cancer too. “Something to look … having a terrific time” This quote is displaying the relationship between Vic and Harry. Harry is explaining to Vic how she needs to let go of the thoughts of toms cancer just for this holiday. Away closely relates to Shakespeare. Everyone in the play believes that a magical creature will come and fix all of these problems sparing them from the grief that the are going through. This is represented through tom as he is trying to solve everyone's problems relating to Puck in shakespeare's play. The play also uses soliloquies to display the thoughts that are going through the Characters heads “When that woman woke up …. So cold and burning”. This allows the audience to see what they are thinking and feeling intensing the relationship between the Character and the Audience. This technique is also used in Shakespeare to display what the character is thinking and
