I have devoted my academic success in high school in hope to continue my educational journey at a Christian academic community. I believe Azusa Pacific University’s community will support my values as a Christian and provide me with spiritual opportunities to deepen my faith with God. In my educational career, I have always attended public school, which has been what I consider a challenge in my faith and has made it stronger. Public school has preached about topics that are against my beliefs, forcing me to learn and test my knowledge on issues such as evolution in order to succeed in certain classes. In times where I have came home frustrated by Socratic Seminars in Science or English courses, that touched the bases on God, my father would provide me with Christian books that answered the “Why?” to my faith. By regularly attending church on Sundays and Wednesdays, reading the bible, and actively praying to God for seventeen years, I made the personal choice to continue my relationship with God for my self. My relationship with God was never forced on me because of the blessing of free choice. I have chosen to apply to a college with a Christian academic setting for myself, only to grow my relationship with the Lord while striving academically. I have chosen to distance my self from the distractions that teens are faced with throughout the past four years, by vigorously studying and taking part in extracurricular activities such as Renaissance, HOSA, and College for Conquerors that benefit my community. Each extracurricular activity or volunteer service I am involved in touches the bases of helping others in my community or school.
