In hope for a better future for children all around the world, mothers must first give birth to a healthy newborn baby. Some pregnant women go through a hard time during pregnancy, so they do idiotic things without thinking what would be the tradeoff of using teratogens. Babies suffer from the decisions mothers take in the past once they are born. In doing so, babies live their lives as handicap people and it is a struggle every day. Imagine not being able to dress up, talk correctly, or even think for one’s self. What a hard life that must be. Without a doubt, if mothers would just seek help, instead of turning to alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, abuse of prescribed medication, or consuming mercury babies would live a much satisfying life span. …show more content…

Babies of smoking mothers have a higher chance of being born early or too small (Smoking, Alcohol, and Drugs Can Harm Your Baby). The fact that tobacco contains nicotine, which limits the blood flow there for causing the baby to grow at a slow rate. Babies can also be born with asthma problems due to mothers smoking. Smokers decide to risk their health, but unborn babies don’t have the choice. So make the right choice. Equally important, the use of drugs during pregnancy is a big No! Especially marijuana, this supplement can cause behavioral problems in babies such as being hyperactive. Picture a newborn baby not being able to sleep at night or crying all night long. How tormenting would that be, right? Another thing smoking marijuana does to the baby is when they breath in that scent it can make a baby sick. Stay away from all marijuana products. Another thought, is the abuse of prescribed medications during pregnancy. Not only is it harmful to the baby but also to one’s self. It also interferes with normal prenatal development that can lead to birth defects or fetal demise (Abusing Prescription Drugs During Pregnancy 2012). It also opposes with functions of the placenta which supplies oxygen and nutrients to the baby. This cause the baby to be underdeveloped and underweight, because it is not getting all the essentials it needs to grow
