In chapter 8 of Bad Boy, Walter talked about Harlem. He saw things different now that he was getting older. Walter wanted to see the world as real writers did. “At 13 I wanted to see the world around me the way I thought real writers did.” Walter wanted to travel to other parts of New York. Walter had soon visited the other parts. In Chapter 9Walter was now 12 and going to the 9th grade. He was a bright boy. Walter spent a whole summer dividing time between basketball and reading. “When I wasn’t playing ball I read everything…” Walter read a lot and also wanted people to think he was a reader.
