As Issac Newton said, every action has an equal or opposite reaction. Just like every decision has an equal or opposite consequence. In the story “Dear Justyce” by Nic Stone, the main character Quan is faced with some tough predicaments. These predicaments lead him to make some bad decisions. Such as stealing from a gas station or joining a gang. All of Quan’s decisions led him somewhere. Whether it was a good place or a bad one. One lesson suggested by the story is that every decision you make can and will affect your future. At the beginning of the story Quan’s desire to be appreciated caused him to make bad decisions that harmed his future. At the start of the book, we see that Quan has 2 younger siblings, a mom, a stepdad, and a dad. The dad ends up getting arrested and the stepdad takes over and is abusive and manipulative. Quan sees this and hates that his mom doesn’t so he takes trips to a playground to relax and set his mind free. On page 34, Quan gets accused by his mom of cheating on a crucial test at school. The one person he thought loved and trusted him. Quan fights his hardest to persuade his mom that he didn’t cheat. At the end of the argument, he comes to the conclusion that “staying focused didn’t give Quan any control at all” (Stone 36). Here we …show more content…

Wouldn’t a real man ensure that his debts are paid? That those who stood in for him are shown appreciation not only through words, but through his deeds? Guess I feel like I owe them the same kind of loyalty they showing me by making sure my moms and brother are taken care of while my sister goes through what she gotta go through. H*ll, by the time I leave this place, Imma owe them more than just loyalty. What am I supposed to do about that?...
