Picture a person always making good decisions, being kind, not hurting people and always doing this right thing. Now picture the opposite person, always getting into trouble, bullying people and doing things all wrong. Imagine how different their lives turn out and how their actions affect their lives. Sometimes a bad decision can ruin a person’s whole future. Everything does depend on how bad the decision is but in the end decisions affect something in people’s lives. In the movie Renaissance Man the teacher Mr. Rago is a very teaches the students of the United States army training base about the play Hamlet. In the movie he says “The choices we make dictate the lives we lead. To thine own self be true.” During the movie one of the students makes a poor decision that affects him in a negative way. For example, a guy that works at a minimum wage job has no license because of a choice he made when he was younger. He got it taken away for various reasons and still does not have it back. He could get it back but it is extremely expensive. As a result of his choices he has to ride his bike to work, even in the winter and he cannot get a job that pays more to help him afford to be able to drive. His choices affected his job, family and driving restrictions. Although that was a major choice or decision that affected someone they do not always have to be that extreme. In school if a student does not study for a test, they could get a bad grade. That is a choice that student made and he or she has prepared to fail.“The choices we make dictate the lives we lead. To thine own self be true” is a true statement because Hamlet decided to get revenge on his uncle and in the end Hamlet and everyone else except Horatio and Fortinbras
