Have you ever heard of Benjamin Banneker? That's what I thought. Benjamin was a African American, who of course started his life out as a slave. If it wasn’t for Benjamin our nation's capitol wouldn’t exist. In 1753 he invented the first striking clock.
Hello! I hope the school year is going great. Although I no longer walk the Daleville hallways I cannot help but hear the many things that go on. It was clearly brought to my attention that Wyatt Baldwin's senior quote was inappropriate. As I looked into the yearbook website and saw it myself after my mom had sent me the picture of it blacked out I understood the reasoning.
Stonecreek is a public middle school in the Panama Buena Vista School District, where we say, “En loco parentis”, Latin for, “In the place of the parents”. In other words, we will look after your child as if it were our own child, for the whole school day. Many believe it is impossible, with over 200 children at our school, however, what those people don’t believe, is that we have been doing this for over 8 years, and we still have taken good care of them for all these years. We rarely receive any problems with our students, and if we do, we take whatever precaution we find necessary. If you wish to hear the rules we have, and the precautions we are willing to take, meet us in our office at 8000 Akers Rd, Bakersfield, from 8:25 a.m. to 3:25
Thousands of women have screamed at the top of their lungs, clawed at the patriarchy, and tirelessly fought for their rights as citizens of the United States of America. From the beginning of mankind, women have been labeled as inferior to men not only physically, but mentally and intellectually as well. Only in 1920 did women gain the right to voice their opinions in government elections while wealthy white men received the expected right since the creation of the United States. A pioneer in women’s suffrage, Susan B. Anthony publicly spoke out against this hypocrisy in a time when women were only seen as child bearers and household keepers. Using the United State’s very own Constitution and Declaration as ammunition, Anthony wrote countless
I’m here today to support Andrew Jackson and persuade you’ll that he should be placed on the twenty-dollar bill. Jackson was the 7th president of the United States and was born near the border between South and North Carolina on March 15, 1767. Jackson was the third child his parents had. His father, Andrew, passed on as the aftereffect of a logging incident only a couple of weeks before the future president was conceived while both of parents were Scotch-Irish immigrants. Jackson was known to be the first “self-made man.”

Changing is inevitable when traveling through life. Usually people, countries, or societies will evolve to become better than they once were. The 2000’s has seen a decrease in racism and more fighting against racism, than in the 1800s or the 1900s. In James Baldwin’s “The Fire Next Time”, Baldwin writes, “We can make America what America must become” (10) to his nephew, the future generation. Baldwin means that America must become more accepting, “For this is your home, my friend, do not be driven from it” (10).
The ideal of Justice permeates all parts of the human experience. Our morals define us as people, as well as our greater society. The way we implement our beliefs into a structured system may not always be the same and often causes disagreements on what is just. Civilization continues to redefine and debate the concept of Justice since ancient Greece, and Plato’s The Apology represents one of the founding works in this debate. Within the greater work, The Trial and Death of Socrates, Plato identifies fault in the current definition and implementation of Justice when his teacher faces punishment for helping Athens.
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King is the G.O.A.T. He is the Greatest Of All Time when it comes to writing and delivering speeches. King has earned this title of G.O.A.T. because of how he can take a social group and mold them into a certain image to maximize the reaction of his words. In his speeches, King is very wise because he knew the best way to have his message remembered and push forward the civil rights movement was to get an emotional response. An emotional connection to a movement would result in more support and effort for the movement.
