Many books have been banned through out the years or in the process of being banned. For instance The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien was banned. This book was about the upcoming of the civilization rest in the fate of the one ring, which has been lost for a long time. Strong forces are ruthless in their search for it. The fate has placed it in the hands of a young hobbit named Frodo Baggins, who inherits the ring and steps into legend. A daunting task lies ahead for Frodo when he becomes the ring bearer to destroy the one ring in the fires of mount doom where it was created. This means that some people and this association think that it isn’t good if young kids watch/read the characters smoking it is a bad influence. This percentage they got shows that students smoke but the students that smoke should be old enough to realize their action and know that it is bad for you, they should know if they should be smoking right from wrong even though no one should be. I can understand from a parent perspective on why they don’t want a young kid to read/watch this and grow up thinking smoking is cool. The other reason it was banned some found it “irreligious”. Most people find this outrageous because Tolkien has been a catholic his whole life. He has also put noticeable Christian themes and subtexts.
