Barack Obama was president of the united states and he believed that everyone had the ability to be successful but they had to work at it. He is trying to convince the children of America that to be successful you must work hard in school. His father was not in his life either and he knows how difficult it can be. He stated all that in his back to school speech using ethos, pathos, and logos although I am not that sure his speech was that effective.

There are plenty of people who really work hard in life and never reach their goals. Just because he became president, it does not mean that any kid who tries to be president by working really hard in school will be. He is making false promises, yes these kids can be successful “but you can’t always get what you want”. They need to be prepared in case they do not succeed. He should be careful when speaking about kids being poor or having a single parent because that is a very touchy subject and will more likely just further depress kids then make them do better in school. Obama needs to watch his words better next time. And make a better
