This paper briefly demonstrates West Oakland Bart station’s assets, how it has leaned towards sustainability, equity, and development. Almost every Bart station is surrounded by homeless people, not every street near such station are clean. But when it comes to Oakland and West Oakland people tend to have negative thoughts. Even though this area has the reputation for violence and numerous crime scenes in the past. I find this Bart station no less different than the other Bart station, in fact, it was much cleaner, more spacious for parking and even surrounding was spacious, clean and busy streets. As this Bart station is a stop far from Embarcadero, people from various region can take advantage of short ride to downtown San Francisco.

West Oakland Bart Station is already pushing this factor by providing free secure big bike parking and bike lockers: 42 shared use electronic lockers are located inside the station (1). Due to several public awareness many people these days walk or cycle to commute, and to reducing our carbon footprint as it is healthy, fun, and economical. Adapting the street to make safer for cyclists and pedestrians by introducing more protected sidewalks and bike lanes, improving the quality of affordable bikes will definitely help encourage people to both arrive at Bart via more sustainable transportation …show more content…
As per the equity concern, people who live nearby any public transit had to have some benefit like walking or biking to Bart then head off to work. Not considering they might be living in affordable housing with train noise and other public noise pollution. But that being said, the biggest trade off would be avoiding huge traffic, expensive city parking and time saving for those who drive to the Bart station.
