Even though Rostand’s Cyrano has faced many misfortunes, his worst moment comes right before his death, where instead of accepting it, he faces it optimistically, making his tale seem more like a heroic comedy. In the final act, Cyrano has been mortally wounded by a log of wood that fell on his head. When he is laid down, due to his wound, Cyrano decides to stand up, grab his sword, and pretend to fight. He claims, “I know them now, my ancient enemies, falsehood… prejudice, compromise, cowardice… What’s that?

People are shallow and prone to frivolity as well as gaiety. This is just one of the many messages sent by F. Scott Fitzgerald in The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald conveys this message through his characters, Tom, Daisy and Jay, their actions and their lifestyles. He also uses a cheery lighthearted tone to show that the characters have no worries or cares. These tones are demonstrated with the use of vibrant imagery, realistic experiences and optimistic thoughts.

The Great Gatsby was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald describes a tragic love story of the protagonist, Jay Gatsby. Gatsby’s conquest to pursue Daisy Buchanan analyzes and critiques the lifestyle of the Roaring Twenties, the period between World War I and the Great Depression. The storyline deals with the human aspiration to start over, social politics, and the use of judgement while using the elements of irony and tragedy.

Their families also didn’t know that they were dead, just that they had disappeared so they had no one to blame for their pain.
The Narrator justifies keeping Bartleby and ignores his internal issues with confrontation. When Bartleby refuses to do anything but copy the Narrator forgives the behavior because Bartleby asked so politely. When Bartleby refuses to work all together the Narrator allows him to stay because he thinks it is a good thing to help Bartleby. Even when the Narrator realizes the he can’t have Bartleby in his office anymore he moves offices instead of making Bartleby leave. All these acts show us that the Narrator does not know how do deal with confrontation
This paper will argue that both title characters from Hamlet and Miss Julie are tragic heroes in an absurd world. Both characters find themselves fighting an immortal battle; Hamlet is struggling for identity and meaning, Julie for independence and freedom. Hamlet 's struggle takes place after the betrayal of his father which throws him into a depressive and self-destructive cycle of indecision and contemplation. Julie 's struggle takes place slowly throughout her entire life, accelerating with her failed engagement and her relations with the servant Jean. This essay will explore the elements of a tragic hero and to what extent they apply to Hamlet and Julie.
The Tragedy Paper Argument I believe that the Tragedy Paper should continue to be taught and read by future Fccc juniors. The Tragedy Paper is about a teen who meets the girl of his dreams but she doesn't feel the same about him. But none of that matters when a tragic accident separates them for good. One reason I believe it should be taught is, the life lessons it teaches those who read it and that everything you do has consequences and that you shouldn't worry about how you look and don't worry about being different.
In William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the protagonist, Hamlet, dies in an effort to revenge his father, the King of Denmark, who was murdered and usurped by Claudius, Hamlet’s uncle. Hamlet’s tragic flaw, the cause of his downfall, is the reason why the play concluded with his own death. Ruled by his intelligence, Hamlet examines ideas and plans from many different angles before putting them into action. Although his thoughtfulness is an admirable trait, due to the circumstances, his thoroughness led to the inability to make and commit to decisions, the cause of his doom. This indecisiveness is physically manifested on the PostSecret the forms of text and visual cues.

"If a temple is to be erected, a temple must be destroyed!" Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) is one of humanity's most influential and amaranthine thinkers. Some of his most famous works include Thus Spoke Zarathustra (1891), Beyond Good and Evil (1886), The Gay Science (1882), The Birth of Tragedy (1872), Twilight of the Idols (1889), The Will to Power (1901), etc. His impact isn't just on recently found scholarly insight, but additionally on the way numerous contemporary Western philosophers approach "life".
Tragedy is the most refined version of poetry as it deals with lofty matters. And it is the ultimate form of our innate delight in imitation. It is in the form of dramatic and tragedy is not to tell but to show or perform. According to Aristotle “Tragedy is an action that is serious attention, complete in itself, and of some magnitude; in language enriched by a variety of artistic devices appropriate to the several parts of the play; presented in the form of action, not narration; through pity and fear bringing about the catharsis of such emotions” (Poetics, chapter.6). The novel “Things Fall Apart” resembles Aristotle 's idea of a tragic hero because the main protagonist, Okonkwo, meets all of Aristotle’s criteria of a tragic hero by being a perfect man in his society until he makes a mistake and is exiled for it only to return seven years later to find his village completely changed and his life goal thus meaningless.
