CRACK! The sound of the baseball smacking the wooden bat in the sport of baseball. Baseball was invented in 1839 and became a job/started to pay in 1846. Abner Doubleday was the inventor of the sport of baseball. The highest paid player at this time is Clayton Kershaw at 33 million dollars. Baseball impacted our country by providing job opportunities for Americans, giving Americans something to do while the war was going on, and helping people find a new hobby.
The first significant impact on America is that it provided job opportunities for Americans. Each of the 30 teams in the MLB has 40 roster spots on it but are reserved for premier players. During the Mexican - American war, people spent their free time mostly playing baseball. As baseball began to grow very popular, almost nothing could stop people from playing, or even stop baseball by itself. Wars could not stop baseball. Depression could not stop baseball. It seems that the only thing that could stop baseball is itself. As people knew, baseball was not gonna stop/die off anytime soon. Two Baseball did not impact the outcome of the war in any way. Unlike major leaders or groups, the sport did affect what happened in the war or the outcome of it. Yet it made a valuable contribution to the homefront. Even though the fact that Major League Baseball’s level of play was statistically lower during the war, the game’s popularity increased and eye-widening amount. Three without baseball there would be no national sport for Americans to rally around. Many came to realize that without baseball there would be no national sport for Americans to rally around and distract themselves from the war’s needed sacrifices.
