Baseball History Essay

The history of baseball is very exciting! Right now I will tell a little bit of the history of baseball. Baseball was created by a man named Abner Doubleday. Baseball has had a couple of names including base, townball, and rounders. All of these names are early names for the game we play today. Baseball started out with only a couple of people because of the population of some towns. Baseball evolved over time and so did its number of players. By 1871 the game of baseball had enough clubs to form the very first baseball league also known as the National League. This was a big step for baseball but the only problem was African Americans were not allowed to play. African Americans got their chance to play baseball in 1920 when Rube Foster launched

Then in the 1970’s the highest paid player in baseball was only getting paid 150,000 dollars, but by the 1980’s that was the average pay for a player. In 1972 Hank Aaron was the first baseball player to have a salary of over 200,000 dollars. In 1973 the Braves left 27 runners on base in a 20 inning game against the Phillies. In 1974 Mike Schmidt hit a rocket up in astros stadium it was so high that it hit a speaker and when the ball landed in the infield Mike was only granted with a single when some people say that the could have gone 600 ft.
