Basketball is one of the most popular sports. There are 2 different types of positions you can play in basketball, also known as offense and defense. Offense is the team with the ball trying to score the points. Defense is where a player is trying to steal the ball, deflect passes and try to rebound. Traveling, double dribble, three seconds, ten seconds, over and back, carrying, lane violation, out of bounds and kicking are some of the big violations a player can get in basketball. Traveling is where a player can't move their pivot foot or lift their foot off the ground, and if do it’s called travel. When a player gets the ball they have to dribble the ball or look for a teammate. When an offensive player stops dribbling, one foot becomes the players pivot foot. A player can't move pivot foot or lift it off ground, and if they do it’s called travel. Double dribbling is if an offensive player starts dribbling again once they have already dribbled it’s called double dribble.
