Concert Critique – Greg Billings Band The performers are Greg Billings: Lead vocals, Tom King: Bass guitar, George Harris: Guitar and vocals, Rob Stoney: Keyboards, vocals and harmonica, Mark Busto: Drums and vocals. Kyle Ashley: Guitar. The band today includes Greg and Tom from the original band Stranger. Greg is a friend of mine as well as a colleague.
Rick Famuyiwa's Dope is an irreverent coming of age film that thrives on bending and breaking stereotypes about blackness. As the film follows Malcolm, a geeky black kid from a rough neighborhood who aspires to study at Harvard, a series of unexpected events involving drug trafficking unravels, thus complicating Malcolm’s future. This whirlwind of events starts when Malcolm, Jib, and Diggy try to sneak into the club for Dom's party. This scene is not only the catalyst for the film's conflict, but Famuyiwa also uses it to introduce to several major themes and motifs key to the film.
In the short story The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant, by W.D. Wetherell, dramatic irony and flashback are utilized to communicate that one should never change themselves for the sake of another. Set during a summer in New Hampshire, Wetherell’s work is from the perspective of a young boy who becomes infatuated with a girl by the name of Sheila Mant. As as result, the narrator sacrifices the opportunity of a lifetime on his fruitless endeavor to win the heart of the girl. To begin, an excellent example of the effect of the irony and flashback is present at the end of the story when the narrator reflects upon his decisions and says, “ There would be other Sheila Mants in my life, other fish, and though I came close once or twice, it was these

Written by Jonathon Larson, Rent is a musical, based on Giacomo Puccini’s italian opera, La Boheme, which centers on a group of friends in New York’s East Village in 1989 when an epidemic of HIV/AIDS was spreading around the US, affecting the whole friend group, whether it be from having it or from having a loved one who has it. In this paper, I will be examining how the themes and genre of this play turned movie shows the belief system of both the time and the belief system held by the creator, Jonathon Larson.

Web 2.0 sites include blogs, social networks, video sharing sites, and many more. These websites are used to clearly display user generated content. In Steven Johnson 's article , “It’s All about Us”, he makes it prominent that he is a strong supporter of 2.0 websites.
There are con artists in the world, people willing to try to swindle other people for a variety of different reasons. There are people that have almost no conscience and are willing to do anything for a personal gain. In the play “The Music Man” Professor Harold Hill is a con man. He travels the country giving people a taste of what it would be like for their children to be apart of a wonderful band and then having them pay for that band that would never be. Professor Harold Hill is exactly the type of man that would do most anything for a personal gain, not truly caring how many people he hurt.
I will be looking at Hector Belioz’s Symphonie Fantastique’s Fifth movement known as “Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath” (Taruskin, 2005: 327). In this movement, Berlioz sees a horrific crowd of spirits, sorcerers, and monsters of every description, united for his funeral (Kamien, 2014: 296). Unfamiliar sounds, groans, shrieks of laughter, distant cries, which other cries seemed to answer and then through all of this the melody of his beloved is heard — the distorted Idée fixe melody.
Shrek the Musical is a Broadway musical comedy that is created by DreamWorks Theatricals in 2008. It is adapted from Shrek, a 2001 DreamWorks Animation movie, as well as a 1990 children’s literature Shrek! written by William Steig. The original musical is directed by Jason Moore with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori. After watching the recording version of Shrek the Musical, I consider that it is a successful production if the purpose of this musical is to amuse audiences and bring them an enduring audio-visual feast.
The Santa Fe Evening of Jazz was a great concert featuring the Rhythm and Blues, Jazz Combo, and Big Band from Santa Fe College with special guest Professor Scott Wilson from the University of Florida Jazz Studies. This Evening of Jazz was the ninth one to be held and was superbly done; getting a ticket was quick and simple, finding a seat was as easy, and leaving was not hard. The whole performance was led by Doctor Steven Lee Bingham who also played with all the bands on the alto saxophone along with giving information about each band, song, scholarship players, and on Mr. Wilson and his unique instrument called a E.V.I.. The audience had a pleasant feel, everyone was talking and laughing before and after the performance, they also were
Children are intrinsically irresponsible in the sense that they have nothing to be responsible for. Even older children are only responsible for themselves and their actions and they are not held accountable for the actions of others or the results of those actions. I learned what it meant to be responsible for an entire group of people and the performance that we created when I became the drum major of my high school marching band. I had to stop being a child when I became the drum major for the Jesse C. Carson High School Marching Band because it was an immense responsibility that required mature skills such as commitment, trustworthiness, honesty, and leadership. Being drum major was a serious commitment of both my time and my energy because it required me to put marching band before anything else in my life.

Rent is a contemporary musical revolving around a group of poor, struggling, young artists, or “Bohemians.” It is set in East Side New York City in the height of the 1990s HIV/AIDS epidemic. Despite obstacles of sickness, financial difficulties, and death, the characters locate the ability to remain optimistic and positive. Rent has proceeded to become extremely successful and iconic in modern day musical theatre.
Five hundred years ago, European explores landed in North America. After trying to locate a new route to Asia across the Atlantic Ocean, they found a continent they did not know existed. Three different groups traveled to the New World, starting in 1584 (Basu, Tanya). The last group included Governor John White, whom had to return to England to submit his report to the Queen. John White tried several times to return to Virginia, it wasn’t until a few years later he was finally able to returned to his new home.
