Bat Boy: The Musical Bat Boy: The Musical was performed at Samford University on October 22, 2015. Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming wrote the story and the book. Laurence O’Keefe wrote the music and lyrics. Laurence O’Keefe and Alex Lacamoire arranged and orchestrated the musical. The musical was composed for a five-piece band, but the Samford performance used a soundtrack. The story was originally published in 1992 in the satirical Weekly World News and was turned into a musical in1997. In the musical, there were several variations and adaptations from the original story. The setting for the musical is the town of Hope Falls, West Virginia, a fictional location in modern times. Parker. The doctor was on a hunting trip, so they left Bat Boy with his wife, Meredith Parker. She and her daughter, Shelly Parker, put Bat Boy in a cage until Dr. Parker came home. When he entered the house, he saw Bat Boy in the cage. The sight scared the doctor so much that he grabbed a needle out of his bag and was just going to kill Bat Boy. Just as he was getting ready to give the injection, Meredith came into the room, noticed what Thomas was about to do and begged him not to kill Bat Boy. Thomas told her that the creature must be killed because he put a girl in the hospital and was too dangerous to be left alive. Meredith told Thomas that the creature was just a boy and could be taught how to be human, to act like a real boy and not behave like the monster he appeared to be. They decided that they were not going to kill him but instead teach him everything he needed to be …show more content…

Since Thomas did not want to kill Bat Boy, he told the family that they were all going on a camping trip instead of going to the revival. Bat Boy got upset because he really wanted to go to the revival. He wanted to show the town how well he had learned his lessons about being human and that he was no longer a threat to anyone. Meredith agreed with Bat Boy and told Thomas that Bat Boy should be able to go to the revival. Thomas was very angry and hit Meredith. Bat Boy came to her defense and attacked Thomas. Meredith pulled Bat Boy off and began to comfort
