This investigation had numbers of batteries and speed. Does the type of battery determine the speed of the wire spinning? This question was the first question asked in this investigation. The hypothesis following this scientific question was “If the type of battery determines the speed of the wire then, the more volts in a battery the speed, the speed will increase.” Then, this couldn’t be tested so the question was changed to “ Does the amount of AA batteries determine the speed of the wire spinning in RPM?” The hypothesis following this investigation was “If the amount of AA batteries determines the speed in RPM, then if there is four AA batteries, the speed in rotations per minute will be higher than one battery.” The dependent variable depends on the independent variable so the speed (RPM) was the dependent variable and the number of AA batteries is the independent variable in this investigation. The control variables in this experiment were the batteries, they were all AA batteries. The controlled group was …show more content…
The second average for two batteries was 6166.5. The third average for three batteries was 8928.25. Then the last average was for four batteries 1200. The averages were increasing every time. In this experiment my trials they all had the same pattern. This pattern was that every time on trial one the RPMs were higher and the other three were the same. So for example when the first AA battery was tested the trial one was 3157 and the second, third, and fourth battery were all 2857 RPM. This is because the resolution was not as accurate as it could have been and if it was all the trials would all have a different RPM. The hypothesis written for this investigation is accepted. In this experiment there was a positive trend as more double a batteries were added on. At the batteries of 4, there was an increasingly difference from the only one battery. All the averages turned out to be the same
