The Battle of Trenton was a significant battle in the American Revolution. The reason for this is General George Washington decided that on December 25, 1776 he and his men would cross the Delaware River and attack the Hessians. Washington tricked and trapped the Hessians by attacking them from behind. Since the battle lasted less than an hour, Washington and his army defeated the Hessians. These are some key points on why the Battle of Trenton was so significant.
Staying at Valley Forge It is February 1st, 1778 and nearly 30 percent of Washington’s troops are ill and cannot report for duty (Document A). The Revolutionary War has been hard on the Continiental Army and after this year is over, many soldiers plan on leaving. But unlike them, I chose to stay. Tyranny, like hell is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph (Document D).

At Valley Forge I can smell the stench of the nasty cooking and hear the angry soldiers crying out that there is more meat. Members of the Congress didn’t trust in General Washington. There is a soldier that has worn out shoes, his legs are bare and half naked. Soldiers were healthy but started to grow sick. Deciding not to re-enlist is a choice I made because of the lack of trust, living conditions, illness at Valley Forge.
Tyranny and Strengths in Valley Forge Valley forge was the camp that the continental army stayed at during the winter. It was a harsh time of disease and poor food stuffs. The farmers chose to sell their supplies to the British just because they offered more money. While the continental army was set up, I was getting ready to go there and train hard. When I had arrived, General Washington was presenting the army to the Congressional Committee(DocB).Although some people were leaving, I chose to stay and train myself to the highest.
In 1778 at Valley Forge you had a 15% chance of death and 50% chance of becoming ill, so what would you have done, quit or stay and fight for your country's independence as stated in Document A. Many people were leaving Valley Forge because they didn't like their chances of winning. Others thought differently and stayed to fight for their country's independence. Soldiers that stayed had patriotism and they were put through conditions that showed they wanted to have freedom. Not only were soldiers fighting for their own freedom but they were fighting to provide independence of their whole countrie and separation of Britain.

Due to the cold and harsh winter and the defeats in the previous wars, the Continental Army was one the verge of abandoning the rebellion act. Therefore George Washington needed to find something to build up the spirit in his troops. As such he then decides to cross back over the Delaware River and attack the Hessians (German hired troops) at Trenton, New Jersey.

It was here at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania where the Continental Army Soldiers of the Revolutionary War chose to go after being defeated in the Battle of Germantown in October 1777. During this winter, Washington’s troops came to this encampment to recuperate and train for future battles with the British.
