The glossy pebble, so conspicuous among the dull sand, ever so gently sways with the ripples of the tide on the shoreline. Polished by turmoil, brightened by tons of rolling weight, and frosted by rubbing of the sand, this gem endured the relentless bashing of ocean waves for years. It is stripped from it’s familiar grounds when it is spotted by a keen eye and placed in a back pocket to be taken home. The new beholder is not aware of the rich story it tells and the humble beginnings from which it originated. Only evident is the glimmer and beauty currently shown, fascinating the observer. This gleaming stone, so exquisite, was not always so.

The carelessness of such an item leads to such an outcome. After numerous ways of finding the ocean and the years of patient chaos that followed, they are all molded into valued treasure. The value of these pieces increase the longer they are tossed in the open water as they become more smooth and genteel.
The loneliness felt so long by the single piece of glass will soon be interrupted. Now placed in the pocket of the passerby, the sleek stone travels amongst other treasures found to be crafted into something even more magnificent. Once in a workspace, the sea glass is studied. The observer looks at all elements of the glass and contemplates where it’s beauty would best be displayed, where it would best complement other aspects of the art. It is then thoughtfully placed in a ceramic vase, surrounded by other pieces of sea glass with stories of their own. The glass that had been transformed through years of refinement and solitude, now beautiful again finds purpose surrounded by other glass, creating something
