The Bears were founded in 1919 in Decatur, Illinois by the A. E. Staley Food Starch Company and were originally called the Decatur Staleys. Then, in 1922, the team was officially named the Chicago Bears. Around the same time the Chicago Bears were founded the Green Bay Packers were also founded. Throughout history the Bears have been known to play a more run based offense. Running the ball in football is necessary for success. If your offense is able run the ball effectively, or if your defense is able to stop the run effectively, your team will have more options for success. Success in the running game keeps the defense on edge, allowing for a better passing game as well. The Bears have created a nice equilibrium between their running and passing game, and it is all because of their success in running the ball. While the Bears are more run oriented, the Packers are more pass oriented. The problem with being a pass oriented offense is that you rely on the quarterback too much. If something were to happen to the quarterback, the team would be in trouble.
