Beowulf and Beauty And The Beast

There are lots of similarities and differences between heros, sometimes they’re strong and sometimes they begin as weak, they go through changes while in their journey, but in the end there is always someone there to save the day. In the poem Beowulf and the movie Beauty And The Beast both have a hero that struggles to fight a monster. In the poem of Beowulf, the monster Grendel is no good and caused a lot of grief through the land with his killing “ Grendel’s plan, I think, will be what it has been before, to invade this hall and gorge his belly with our bodies... In the Beauty And The Beast Belle was a polite, loving, and strong girl. She loved the people in here town and especially loved her father, she treated everyone with kindness and she always stood up for herself. When Belle lost her father she went looking for him and found clues that lead her to him. When she found him she was over flown with joy but didn’t know how to get him out. She then found the beast and that was when her loving and polite qualities didn’t help her. The beast was angry and mean she had to learn to be firm in order to get past his bitterness and took her father’s place “Belle, whose father is imprisoned by the Beast, offers herself instead, unaware her captor to be an enchanted prince.” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101414/). In Beowulf he was strong, prideful, and a helpful man. He loved to help others in their time of need and with his strength it was easy for him to do. When he heard that the eating hall was taken over by Grendel he came immediately to help, and defeated him with pride.”My lord Higlac might think less of me if I hid behind some Board linden shield: my hand alone shall fight for me, struggle for life against the monster. Some of the similarities they have are that both are fictional, they both have a beast and a heroic figure, even though Beowulf started off as strong and Belle didn’t. They also both continued to fight their battle until it was finished. Some of the differences that they have are that Beowulf was born with strength and had been fighting monsters for others since he was young. Belle was just a peaceful girl who all of a sudden had to fight for the life of her father and her own. The heroes found in these stories are magnificent people who show us to work hard for what we want and to never give
