Beatty And Montag's Relationship Analysis

The relationship that Beatty and Montag have is, boss, and worker. They get along very well in the first part of this novel, but getting further into it they begin to have some differences. Beatty is completely against books and book reading, but Montag is becoming curious about books and what they may hold/contain. This is causing some problems within these two characters, because they have completed opposite point of views on a very important topic which is, books. Also since both are fireman and theirjob is to burn all the books since it is against the law to have possession of books, it is difficult for Montag to want to learn about books. An example of the contradiction these two characters have is when Beatty gives Montag a speech on how useless and unimportant books are, but even after that Montag reads a book.
The relationship between Montag and Mildred is husband, wife. Throughout the first part of this book Montag and Mildred have some issues, like Mildred is beginning to forget a lot of things, like if she took her pills that day or not she overdoses. In the beginning of the novel, when the character Clarisse asks Montag if he is happy or not he responds saying yes, but then he begins to question himself and he realizes he isn't really happy at all. Also after Beatty makes Montag burn a book he had since it was against the law to own a book, and this contributes to the internal issues that Montag has because now not only is he not happy, but he is not happy and confused.
