A dental hygienist noticed that one of her patients was having a periodontal disease that was not noted in the chart. She tried to discuss this with a dentist by stating that her patient have a moderately advanced stage of periodontal disease. The probing results showed that some of the patient's periodontal pockets were 6 mm deep. The dentist response was not to worry about the patient and to keep cleaning out the pockets periodically. The dental hygienist did not feel comfortable treating the patient and asked a dentist to excuse her from performing a treatment.

As young adults we search and explore career paths all the time, but eventually you discover where you fit in society. After jumping from career to career, I thought about what job I was drawn to. I decided that I want to be a Dental Hygienist. Well, what is a Dental Hygienist?
In life we tend to see failure as a terrible thing. When we do fail, most of the time we want to give up and see it as the end of the world. However there are few that see failure as an opportunity to do better and rethink the mistakes that were made in the past. When we were all younger, most of us had an idea of what we wanted to be when we grew up. Whether it was a firefighter or president, we all had our future planned out. But once we got older and entered high school, plans changed. For me personally, I changed my mind a couple of times before I made a decision about what I wanted to do with my life. I decided that I wanted to go to Parkland College and get my degree in Dental Hygiene.
Dentists will diagnose and treat problems that occur in the mouths, teeth, and gums of the patients they oversee. Some of these treatments include filling cavities, removing decay from teeth, straightening teeth, place sealants, give whitening treatments, write prescriptions, examine x-rays, and administer anesthetics during procedures. They also counsel each individual on how to maintain good oral hygiene and base their diet around their teeth. Some dentists may also make models and take measurements of oral appliances such as dentures and retainers. To become a dentist, you must obtain a Bachelor's degree and then enter a dental school.

We are use to failure being a normal a aspect of our everyday lives and we often let it overwhelm us, but we should be aware that how we respond molds us into who we truly are. While it may seem that failures are hindrances and are slowing us down, we need to understand that if we learn from repeated failures that it actually leads us to success. Faint heart never won fair lady. In particular, Thomas Edison is a man whom I greatly aspire to concerning his repeated failures to create light but how he never gave up and in the end how his failures led him to eternal glory and renown. His great spirit and interest in science led him through 1,000 failed attempts to produce the light bulb but from each scenario he took his failed experiment and applied it to his new one and each one took him a step closer to his dream and never dying remembrance.
Failing is what makes you successful and you will never be successful until you fail. In conclusion, yeah failure hurts, and no one wants failure but is it really the worst thing in the world? Failure and Success “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts” (Churchill). Failure is defined as the unsuccessful attempt for success. An abundance of our world’s population will experience failure at some point in their life. However, it depends upon how each individual chooses to respond to failure, that will decide their path in success. Failure is the key to success because it is the motivating factor for how one learns to succeed.
Failure is often viewed as some sort of horrific monster that must be escaped; it doesn’t have to be this way. Anytime we don’t achieve our goals it hurts; that’s just a simple truth, however oftentimes it is nearly impossible for us to separate the temporary heartbreak and despair from failure from something that is more permanent. Instead of letting the fear of a temporary setback take over we should look forward towards the future. Even though it is often nearly impossible to realize in the moment every failure brings a chance for growth and change.
One of my experiences with failure took place when I was in fourth grade. There were many problems accumulated and I was a child who needed people to see if I did my homework or study for the test, because I couldn’t concentrate and was distracted by anything in the room. My brother also had problems that year, he needed more attention because he didn’t get along with his math teacher and my Mom was always after him with the homework; otherwise he would have failed Math at the end of the year.
