“My Journey to Become a Physician Assistant” My experiences throughout my life all lead me to my chosen career path of Physician Assistant. Growing up, I had several chronic health conditions that often required hospital stays and many doctor’s appointments. From a very young age, I was able to see how much of a positive impact healthcare professional can have on the lives of patients at the worst times of their lives. Over the years, I have seen countless healthcare providers, but one Physician Assistant stood out to me. She was one of the kindest individuals I have ever met and was always there to lift my spirits when I was feeling down. I was always very excited to see her. I am doing numerous things to insure that I succeed in my major. I study very hard to make sure that I earn the grades that are required in such a rigorous program. I also volunteer in healthcare so that I can learn important lessons such as how to relate to patients on a personal level and even how to deal with difficult patients. I am going to be tutoring Human Anatomy and Physiology next year which will allow me to practice explaining the anatomy of the human body to others, which I will be required to do every day as a Physician Assistant. When I graduate, I plan to become a Rheumatology Physician Assistant. I have a passion for this specialty because I grew up with a rheumatic disease. I also would like to do research on rare rheumatic diseases, in hopes to find a cure that could help others like myself with rheumatic diseases. One of my main goals as a Physician Assistant is to be able to relate to the patient on a personal level. Even if there is nothing I can do to help them physically, I hope that I help them to find the determination to fight their illness and to never give
