Ludwig Van Beethoven Who was Beethoven? Beethoven was a musician. He could play the piano, the violin, and the organ(Beethchildhood). Before the age of 12, Beethoven published his first composition. The date of his first composition was 1782. Beethoven was one of the most well known musicians. Beethoven's childhood was not that great. Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 1770. His exact date of birth is unknown. Around that time, his family lived in an attic apartment in Bongassee. In 1792, Beethoven had began studying vocal composition under Antonio Salieri. “With the help of recommendations from his friend and patron, count Ferdinand Von Waldstein, Beethoven was soon accepted into Viennas aristocrate circles. He studied musical composition and then studied harmony and counter po8int under Johann Georg Albrechtsberger.”(Career in Vienna-Ludwig Van Beethoven). In just a short time, Beethoven became a composer in Vienna and thanks to the support of Beethoven's Patrons, he was able to work as an independent composer(Career in Vienna-Ludwig Van Beethoven). Beethoven's first public performance in Vienna was on March 29, 1975. “In these early years, Beethoven's success as a composer was closely tied to his career and renown as a piano virtuoso. In just his first ten years in Vienna, he completed 20 of his 32 piano sonatas, including the Grande Sonate Pathetique OP.13 in C minor and both opus 27 sonatas, the second of which became famous as the “Moonlight” sonata. Beethoven's first compositions to appear in print were his three piano trios. From 1813 to 1814, Beethoven focused mainly on composing “Wellington's Victory.” In the years that followed, Beethoven again devoted himself to piano sonata. In 1819, Beethoven had the chance to tackle an even larger work. Beethoven was assigned a task to compose a great ceremonial mass. It took two years for Beethoven to complete the mass. More than ten years after completing his last symphony, Beethoven turned his attention back to this grand form. Beethoven's world premiere of his ninth symphony came on may 7, 1824 and was greeted with wide public appraise. Beethoven's last days were spent in Vienna.
