Our brains are always working its’ best to function properly, but there are situations, factors, or events that can completely alter how our brains work. Therefore a psychological Disorder is created. “A psychological disorder is a constellation (group or collection) of symptoms that creates significant distress or impairment in work, school, play, relationships, or daily living ” (Unit 9). This means that in a psychological disorder there is more than one aspect that creates a disturbance in one’s normal life. Some symptoms included distress (which consist of inspected crying), Disability (the inability to function, this include panic attacks), and Danger (when you become a treat to yourself and others. Stressing symptoms are seen as results of learning, not as an unconscious force. Behavior therapist is all about the ABCs; antecedents, the behavior and the consequences. The technique used in this therapy includes: systematic desensitization, exposure with response prevention and progressive muscle relaxation. In systematic detestation the person learns to be relaxed in present of the feared object or situation. An example might be someone who is afraid of flying in airplanes, this person will then visualize the trip, listening to recordings of trips and finally taking a small airplane trip. This will slowly help to destroy this irrational fear. In exposure with response prevention is almost the same as systematic desensitization, but it also includes prevention of avoidance and muscle relaxation.
