Behind the media document Cartoon Network launched on October 1st, 1992 and is owned by Turner Broadcasting which is a subsidiary of Time Warner. However, at the current date, AT&T is reportedly attempting to purchase Cartoon Network from Turner Broadcasting for $108.7 billion. It specializes in providing cartoon entertainment for children. It currently shows hit TV programs such as Steven Universe, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, and Teen Titans Go. It is known as the most innovative cartoon company because of the ways some of its shows push the boundaries societal norms and provides thought provoking content. They created a lot of new original TV shows this way, such as Dexter’s Laboratory, the Powerpuff Girls, and Johnny Bravo (“Cartoon Network | History.”). Throughout the years they also added different divisions to the channel that allowed them to provide entertainment to a larger audience. An example of this would be Toonami, which premiered in 1997. This division aired shows in the afternoons on weekends, and it originally showed different Japanese cartoons such as Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Outlaw Star, and Mobile Suit Gundam, and more recent shows would include Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures, My Hero Academia, and Naruto: Shippuden. (Toonami). Another sector of Cartoon Network would be Adult Swim, which premiered in September of 2001. Adult Swim aired in the afternoons on weekdays, and it specialized in cartoons and tv shows directed towards adults.
