In the short movie Behind the Screen by Agatha Christie, the story takes place in the Ellis' family home, where a body has been found behind a Chinese screen. A mysterious murderer killed Paul Dudden between the hours, 8:15 and 8:30. Is it Mrs.Pettigrew, his ex-wife? Martha Ellis, who had an affair with Paul?Amy Ellis, the daughter of the Ellis family home? Mr. Ellis, the head of the family? Robert Ellis, the son? Mr. Parsons, the noisy neighbor? Wilfred Hope, the soon-to-be wife of Amy? The movie timeline starts as Mrs.Pettigrew waits outside to deliver a package at 7:55. Shortly after that, Mrs.Hulk calls everyone down for dinner, which is served at 8 o'clock. Then Paul Dudden slammed the door, leaving frantically. As Mrs.Pettigrew saw Paul …show more content…

Robert wanted to get revenge on Paul and not go to jail, as well as keep his family together. A piece of evidence that supports my claim that Robert got revenge on Paul is evidence #1. “Dudden holds a signed confession by Robert admitting he forged a check on Dudden's account.” This piece of evidence supports my claim because Robert does not want to go to jail for forging a check on Dudden's account. Robert wants revenge on him, as he is being held for a signed confession and could go to jail when Dudden wants and whenever he wants. This check forgery is a crime, and Robert knows it. To save himself from going to jail, he would have to stop Paul Dudden. That's why Robert killed him. Robert wants to keep his family together, and he killed Paul Dudden because of these two clues. Evidence #2 “Marta, darling, you must tell your husband about us. I'll be behind the screen to protect you. Love beyond words, Paul” and Evidence #5 “Mr. Ellis' war wound permanently weakened his hands.” These clues support my claim because the affair that Paul had with Mrs. Ellis (Martha) would impact how Mr.Ellis sees her as well as how their two children (Robert and Amy) see her. The whole family would be completely broken apart. Now, of course, anyone in their family would stop this, but because of evidence #5, Mr. Ellis's war wounds make him completely vulnerable to killing Paul. Now, because it was the 1980s, women were often stereotyped and …show more content…

Robert was there at the time. Robert could have easily planned it. Some evidence that supports my claim that Robert Ellis murdered Paul Dudden is clue evidence #6.“ Mrs. Parsons said she was with Mrs. Ellis in the backyard until Mrs.Hulk called for dinner.” and Evidence #5 said “Mr. Ellis' war wound permanently weakened his hands.” Some more evidence is that Mrs.Hulk closed the curtains at 8:25. This proves my claim because at this time period, Robert, Amy, and Mr.Ellis were inside the house. Mr.Ellis had weak hands, and Amy was stereotyped, so Robert would be the person to take care of the job, and that's what he did. Robert could plan the murder of Paul Dudden and think about how he could do it and when he should do it. Since Mrs.Hulk was their chef, maid, and housekeeper, she would have a regular to close the curtains. Since Robert was a person who lived at the house, he could easily take note of it or even know when Mrs.Hulk could do it. This means that Robert could have easily killed Paul when Mrs.Hulk closed the curtains to make sure no one saw a
