Being an American means caring about your country, having a sense of individualism, having national unity, and having pride in your country. American literature, music, and art all contribute to why America has a new sense of nationalism, and are starting a great new country. America is a prideful, and great young country, which is exactly why you should visit the United States, and potentially live here.

First off, American art is the finest art I have seen in all my life. Many professional artists make their living doing portraits. They try to capture the emotions and personalities of their subjects to the best of their abilities. I was able to attend the painting of a portrait by a professional artist by the name of Gilbert Stuart. Some the best known writers include, Washington Irving, Davy Crockett, James Fenimore Cooper, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Washington Irving drew on German folklore in his books “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” But he set them in the wilds of upstate New York. Davy Crockett spins tales about his life as a hunter, scout, soldier, and explorer. His autobiography helps to give a new distinctly American accent, to literature. Books about adventures of settlers in the wilderness, are written by James Fenimore Cooper. Worldwide interest in currently being drawn in, because of his novels. The first serious American poet is Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. His poems are based off of American Indian stories. His poems almost always touch on patriotic themes, or are created in order to celebrate the importance of the United States to the world.
