Every Muslim has to be a terrorist, every African American has to be a drug dealer, every Mexican has to be illegal, every Caucasian has to be a racist, but it’s always your perspective of what defines them. One bad thing someone does greatly impacts the perspective of that race. Discrimination and unjust still continues to strive in United States no matter the century. We are still fighting the same war, but just on a different day and like always against one another. I was taught that love has no color and that everyone is equal regardless of race, gender, culture, sexuality, and beliefs. I was supposed to tell you about how we have an amazing education system, better than most countries. I was supposed to tell you that we have more freedoms than other countries. I was supposed to, but not everything has to be compared to other countries for the fact that we’re not all the same. We all have different battles that we’re fighting and the world isn’t perfect. Being an American isn’t riding unicorns and sliding down rainbows, but instead trying to find the good in the bad. Yes, there is some good but there is bad too that many are uncomfortable to talk about for it is a touchy subject. As you grow you will learn that there is an ugly side to things. No matter how many marches are walked and how many will die nothing will change. Nothing will change because being an American something new will come up and it’ll be on to the next topic. It seems like no one wants to change because if they did people wouldn’t be questioning the “Black Lives Matter” movement and do something, anything instead of sitting there watching. People have died and maybe it wasn’t anyone you knew or I knew but they died and left loved ones. As an American you are heartless and it always has to be someone(s) dying for it to even get attention.
