Being Hispanic can sometimes make you feel like you're not being treated equal in certain situations, I can feel being discriminated or even looked down upon if I am at a place where I don't necessarily "fit in." Being raised in a small community that doesn't have many different races has taught me that yes there is people out there that will not like you based on your skin color and where you come from, but there will be people that will treat you equal no matter what race you are or what skin color you have. As I've grown older I've come to realize and talked to my family about, embracing who you are. I love being able to speak both Spanish and English. It is so important to love yourself in the skin you're in and embrace your unique culture
Being Hispanic to me means being a warrior at heart. A warrior whose heart is made of fire and stone, whose blood pulses for the need for a better life. Hispanics are a force of love. We love our families so much we work two to three jobs just to make sure our families can thrive, even if it means not being able to spend time with their families. Parents love their children so much they lie to them, saying that they aren’t hungry when they actually are, or that they aren’t tired when in reality their bones are screaming in pain.
Hispanic does not simply mean people deriving from Spanish-speaking countries particularly from Latin America, It 's an infusion of countless cultures and traditions. I myself am considered a Hispanic simply because I am from Mexico, a country that is dominated by the Spanish language. The word Hispanic Unites people who can trace their origin or descent to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central and South America, and other Spanish cultures. This creates a powerful voice/community that when united can create change when threatened for the better of it 's people just like any other community. I can say that what separates the Hispanic community from others is its rich culture and customs.
It is the way we communicate, and how we can express ourselves for who we are. One of the main factors that makes Hispanics, Hispanics. Although, there are different interpretations of what being Hispanic truly means. My interpretation of what being Hispanic means to me comes from my learning experiences throughout the past years. Most students would have the opportunity to rest during the holiday breaks.
Being a child of immigrant parents makes you appreciate life so much because everyday it’s an opportunity to be the best you can be to make everyone around you proud. My parents can’t got back to school and get an education so being able to see me succeed is worth their hard work. My parents have taught me to never give up. I know that some doors may be closed on me but that doesn’t mean other doors won’t open. I want to be someone who represents the Hispanic community.
I am a Mexican American me as living in America my whole life i need to know their culture and understand their traditions. It 's important for everyone to get a chance and learn about other races and ethnicity. By learning about others this helps people come together and be united. We all have different backgrounds and stories of how our ancestors got here and what traditions they brought with them that we still use that we can share with others. Diversity is good we get to learn a lot from different races and ethnicity because it gives people a chance to experience different things other than what they are accustomed to.
I believe the term, hispanic, itself does not define who I am. I define who I am and who I want to become. However, I do come from a Mexican heritage. Coming from a Mexican heritage has influenced and deeply impacted my life. My heritage has taught me a lot.
To me, being hispanic and born and raised makes me want to break all negative stereotypes of how must are not educated and do not have any way of succeeding. I want to make my family proud. I have had many experiences were being hispanic has made me work harder than I would have. The main place were I had to exceed was in school. I came into kindergarten with not knowing any english.
I grew up in a two-parent household with my parents being married before they had children. My father has always been the one that provides finically, while my mother was the one who took care of my siblings and I throughout my childhood. Being that both of my parents were born in Mexico, I consider myself Mexican American. I am proud to be Mexican American. Culture plays a huge role in shaping your identity.
I’m the first generation of my family to be Mexican -American, but I have been introduced to the Mexican culture since I was born. I appreciate the difficulties my parents have faced to make me the person that I am today even though I wasn’t born in Mexico my parents have taught me the language and the culture which I’m so proud of being part of. For others being Hispanic is actually being born in any Latin American countries which is not true at all. Being Hispanic is much more than my cultural background it actually describes how much I appreciate my culture and how I get to experience things other people don’t. I fit into the Hispanic community through the experiencing the culture first hand ,participating in traditions and planning to include my culture in my future.
Throughout life we face obstacles that changes us as individuals in way that leaves an indelible impact. My greatest obstacle occurred when my mother was deployed for nine months with the Army. During the nine months, my brother, who was twenty-two at the time, and an older lady who was a family friend were my primary caretakers. My father did not live with us so he was not a big factor while she was gone. My Mom is like a best friend to me.
