Amidst Chapter 6 of her book, Teaching to Transgress, bell hooks compares the differences she discovered when engaging essentialism and experiences within education to those of scholar Diana Fuss. Therefore, leading hooks to question some of Fuss’s theories by expressing her own theories and encounters when it comes to addressing essentialism, experience, and education.
