At a very young age children are exposed to various forms of Walt Disney media, such as movies, cartoons, or books. It's a tale as old as time, young girls grow up admiring what is known as the Disney princess. The girls choose a favorite princess, most often one that appeals to them by their looks or their behaviors. My favorite Disney character from my personal childhood has been a particular princess, none other than Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Belle appealed to me the most because she looked like me with her brown hair. Also she was able to rescue the Beast, not the other way around like the other Disney fairytale plots. Though I may have not known it at the time, but movies such as this one was shaping the way I viewed myself and other men and women. Most individuals go through their life not questioning the beliefs and binaries that the world forms.

Steven (2013), mainly analyzes any changes between Beaumont’s tale and Disney’s 1991 adaptation of the story. This analysis points out the significant differences in between the two versions. More so Steven, argues that in Beauty in the Beast, Belle is less of a feminist-friendly heroine figure.
