Students Not Enjoying Prom Belleville West students have been complaining over the last few years about Prom. The theme of prom, cost, and where it has been held at have been the most talked about topics. After talking to a few students i found that students are not enjoying the themes of prom and how they are chosen. The junior class chooses the theme and students do not like that, they feel as if the senior class should be allowed to pick because it is “their” prom. But there also are students who enjoy prom. Senior , Harambee leader Desmond Goodwin said “ I enjoy Prom because it is a time where the school is unified and brought together to look good and have fun.” After asking 5 Belleville West students if they enjoy prom only 1 of them …show more content…
And what do you do when you get there Senior, Lauren Kane said- “It's a waste of time. All you do is buy a thousand dollar dress, go to the school and wait to take pictures. Then you go home, change clothes ,and go to after prom. It's boring.” The price of tickets has also risen from $60 to $75 and a lot of students are not happy about it. Students are already upset about the place it’s held at and now there is a price increase. Students believe that since there is a increase in price there should at least be a change in scenery to compromise the new prices for tickets & having the event at a different place. After asking junior, Varsity football running back if he thinks prom should change to a new place since prices for tickets have risen he said “Yeah, I don't think it’s fair that we gotta pay extra money for an event that is going to be the same as last year.” I also talked to Ricky Berry about his recent prom experience and he said “ It was lame, I don’t think I’m going to go back again this year because nobody really has fun at prom. After prom is where all the real fun is, all people do at prom is dress up and take pictures so no I don’t think i’m going back especially since they raised the price of tickets and nothing is really going to
