Benchmark—Gospel Essentials William T. Bertilacchi-Green Grand Canyon University Christian Worldview 101 Dr. Ray Meadows August 4, 2024 Benchmark—Gospel Essentials The Christian worldview is encompassed by a few key foundations including: the nature of God, the nature of humanity, and the nature of Jesus. Furthermore, Christianity offers solutions to mankind’s problems by offering faith, grace, and repentance. The nature of God highlights the characteristics that every man and woman should strive to possess. The nature of humanity describes why man is inherently sinful in nature, which can be seen in the book of Genesis. The nature of Jesus gives man hope to live their lives sin-free. Even though Jesus felt that sinful nature, he resisted and was free of sin throughout his life. Furthermore, Jesus was there to spread the gospel of the kingdom of God. In an article written by Ed Mackenzie, he interviews former Pastor Brian McLauren. In the article, Brian McLauren describes Jesus' kingdom purpose: “.he did not intend to start a new religion, but rather to announce a new kingdom, a new way of life, a new way of peace that carried good news to all people of every religion” (Mackenzie, 2015). This highlights the idea that Jesus’ purpose was to spread the Gospel peacefully, but ended up being persecuted for alleged blasphemy. Due to these allegations of blasphemy, Jesus died by crucifixion and received punishment for all of man’s past, present, and future sins. Restoration Due to humanity’s sinful nature, the Christian worldview suggests the way to combat this is to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and to follow his teachings.
