Benjamin Franklin published the Poor Richard's Almanacs beginning in 1733 until 1758. An Almanac is a reference book for everyday life. The almanacs were for people who wanted to know the weather reports, predictions, recipes, holidays, and even moon cycles. Benjamin Franklin wrote his own almanacs because he was extremely knowledgeable and had a passion for being an author. But again he used a false name, making the author’s name ‘Richard Saunders’. The Poor Richard’s Almanac took off so fast that for the next 26 years he would sell about 10,000 copies a year. Benjamin Franklin wrote letters that were later published in his autobiography.
