January 17,1706 Benjamin Franklin was born. He was born in Boston, MA to his parents Josiah Franklin and Abiah Folger, he was the tenth son. His father had wanted him to join the clergy, but that wasn’t possible because they didn’t have enough money to pursue that. Since that opportunity didn’t work out he went and became an apprentice with his brother James, he was a printer. At a young age Ben had become very successful. He was writing books and inventing things on his off time. By the time he was around 14 or 15 he had made the New England Courant . Sadly he didn’t find work there and kept going on his way to find work. From NY he took a boat to Philadelphia, while on the boat he had met his future wife neither of them knew that they would be married 7 years later, while there he had found work as a printer. He was becoming so successful in that job that the governor made a promise to Ben that he would give him his own job if he went and bought printing founts in London. Sadly the governor didn’t keep his word and Ben was stuck as a printer in London for a few months. Once those long and dreadful three months were over and Ben was back in Philadelphia he married his one and only true love, Mrs. Deborah Read. Her husband had ran off and Ben knew that and that’s why he took the chance to marry her before anyone else could.
After a few years into marriage Ben became more civilized and wanted to help with more serious issues and his main goal was to try to solve as many problems as he could. So he decided to help fund many different projects, launch the buildings of libraries, help make hospitals, and one of the biggest ones was help the funding of a fire department. Why the fire department was a big one was because if people were affected by a fire they were covered. Ben established a program that if someone was hit with a fire they would be covered and not have to worry and be able to still live
