Describe Franklin’s early years including his education. Give a complete and accurate account? When Benjamin was young he had a dream of going out to sea; however, his father thought this was an absurd idea. In order to keep him home, his father put him to work at an apprenticeship under his brother in a Print shop.
Benjamin Banneker was born November 9, 1731 in Ellicott's Mills Maryland. He grew up on a cotton plantation he was the son of a former slave by the name of Robert and his mother Mary both of his parents where ex-slaves giving Banneker freedom from birth. At a young age he was taught to read by his grandmother at the same time he attended a quacker school. He was self-taught for the most part teaching himself literature, history, and mathematics. With such great intelligence he had multiple accomplishments in the near future.
At a young age, Franklin was a determined. He would become his brother’s apprentice in his printing press company. This would inspire him to establish his own printing press which would be well known throughout all the colonies. He was then given the rank of postmaster, which made him the head of all the post offices in the colonies. He was very interested in pursuing science and enjoyed inventing; this curiosity of science would lead him to be the first to discover electricity.
At age ten Ben goes to work in his father candle and soap making shop. He went to the Boston Latin School. He dropped out of school when he was 10 to work. At sixteen Franklin wrote essays for Silence Dogood.
