A hero is one that shows great courage, responsibility, and wisdom. As society ages, so does its morals and beliefs. The standards of a hero, for instance. The first written story in English, Beowulf, which written in the 6th century is an appropriate example. Beowulf was your typical hero: a large, muscular male that could virtually do anything with his superhuman abilities. Today, it’s the complete opposite, as heroes can come in all shapes, sizes, and genders. Obviously, both today’s heroes and traditional heroes, like Beowulf are both responsible, but their approaches and traits of heroism are different, especially their physical and personality traits. Whether someone holds the fate of a group of people, or just a small house plant, having responsibility is just an aspect of being a hero.
