In 1967, founder Mick Fleetwood; John McVie, and legendary guitarist player Peter Green formed the first Fleetwood Mac. This was numerous years before the band had the awareness that Christine Perfect, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham even existed. In the Rolling Stones article, Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac’s repertoire and musical style was a tad bit classical blues but mainly focused on British jazz. Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac had a successful series of number one singles in Europe. Including a Peter Green classic made famous in the United States by Carlos Santana, Black Magic Woman. Lindsey and his singer and songwriter girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, were having a rough time trying to make ends meat. In fact, they were struggling so much that Stevie first LA success story was far away from anything musical. In A&E’s Fleetwood Mac biography, talks about how poor Stevie and Lindsey were that Stevie was nearly ready to give up her dream of playing music and was cleaning houses for a living. Mick and John approached Lindsey in a LA studio about joining Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey said sure, but only on one condition that he and Stevie were a packaged deal. Stevie and Lindsey didn’t say yes to Fleetwood Mac right away. Right away, they bought all of the Fleetwood Mac records and listened to them front to back to see if there is some way the both of them could add something to Fleetwood mac and could Fleetwood Mac add something to them. This time they would come together under the most likely circumstances. When Bill Clinton was on the road to the White House, Fleetwood Mac’s Don’t Stop was his battle cry. Everywhere Bill went, so did his campaign song. It was Bill Clinton himself, who played the role of Rock and Roll politician and brought the Mac back together for one time only demand performance. In the years after the performance at President Clinton’s inauguration, Fleetwood Mac would slowly but surely get reacquainted. It was 20 years after the release of Rumours Fleetwood Mac was back. The concert that they came together for was The Dance. On August 12th, 1997, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, John McVie, Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham got together in Burbank, California to play in front of an invited audience. Following the concert, the band went out on the road for the rest of 1997 and a live album of The Dance was released as well. The Dance propelled Fleetwood Mac to back to the charts for the first time in 15 years, but things have been often tense on stage. In 1998, was the band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Also, in that same year, the band performed at the prestigious Brit Awards where they received an outstanding contribution to music
